There is no simple solution because we have no charismatic, statesman-like politicians speaking common sense to the people; and we have our own broadcast media talking endlessly about pointless fluff.
Until that states-person arrives on the scene, our rivers will continue to be polluted by our poo and China and Russia will continue their aggression unopposed.
My book poses a quite possible, but radical solution and I wish all fifth and sixth form school kids and students plus anybody else with questions would read it..

Currently, the BBC and Sky news spend most of their time talking about party politicians moving from one party to another. This is just inappropriate nonsense for those of us outside the Westminster bubble of journalists and politicians.
What about the real issues that need sorting :-
- Our rivers polluted with sewage after 40 years of inaction by the owners of our own water supply; privatised by Thatcher in the 1980s
- Message from our government to the Chinese stop their threat to Taiwan (among many others)
- Message from our government to the Russian invasion of Ukraine
- Divisive faith schools separating our communities from each other
- Investment in our schools buildings and teacher recruitment
- Building houses where they are needed WITH the necessary infrastructure planned for and built before or with the houses
- The northern power house message – a sad joke after years of inaction by government
- One could go on and on…
Our media is focussed on the party politicians. This completely misses any discussion of the real issues which you and I want resolved.
This post is a summary explaining why I, and many others, have realised that our system of government is broken.
Here is why:-
- Party politicians spend most of their time criticising other parties, and they are quite right of course!
- They are wasting both our time time and theirs which would be better spent on the useful of fixing stuff
- Our stupid electoral voting cycle forces governments to avoid the long term solutions to our biggest problems.
- Party politics can only ever make short term policies which feed the 24/7 news cycle.
- Our politicians should be, but are are not, educated in the complexities of global political and economic history (Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng are the perfect examples of well but inappropriately educated ignoramuses).
- The party funding system means that governments kowtow to either big business or the labour unions’ agenda.
- Most of us are now so fed-up with the broadcast media news coverage that we just can’t watch the news any more.
- Social media has become the main source of news for many, which is usually distorted and biased.
